Alicante's Plaza de Toros (Bullring), built back in 1847 and renovated in 1888, has its own museum dedicated to the sport in which you can see all sorts of bullfighting artifacts and paraphenalia. From tight, shiny "torero" outfits to mounted bull heads, from antique posters to swords and from flashy red capes to film reels, you'll learn all about the history and traditions of bullfighting. There's also a pretty interesting section dedicated to the sport's presence in literature- internationally renowned authors such as Ernest Hemingway, Federico García Lorca, Rubén Darío, Antonio Machado and Rafael Albertí dedicated a great deal of their words to the world and culture of the bullfight..

Nativity Scene Museum (Museo de Belenes)

Housed in a typical 19th century house in El Barrio, the Nativity Scene Museum features a fascinating collection of Nativity Scenes from Spain, India, Africa and beyond. During the Three Kings celebration, it's traditional for every home to have a home-made nativity scene on display. Alicante has a special and long-time association with these specialty crafts, so it's only proper that it have a museum dedicated to them!

Water Museum / Garrigós Wells (Museo del Agua / Pozos de Garrigós)

Excavated in rocky Mount Benacantil, these huge water wells were first used during Alicante's Islamic period to collect and store rain water. Inside is also a small ceramics museum which spotlights objects and pottery that were used throughout the ages by men to collect water.
